How much experience does he require; he's been coaching for a decade (Ipswich, Wolves, Man City, and managed Macclesfield). A former international, who played near enough 500 matches, I'm sure he's more than experienced enough to set out cones, assist in improving performances and talking tactics with LB, and guide professional footballers in maintaining standards and reaching their potential.
He’s got experience but I can’t see where he’s been an assistant before.
I don't believe he has done, but does that really concern you when you consider the decade of experience (including managerial) he actually does have? David Karanka had years of experience as a first team assistant...
