Old Maps (32 replies)
Always enjoy looking at old maps and how things have changed over time (for comparison with the modern image use the spy icon).
On this link you can clearly see the site that became St Andrews (club still based at Muntz Street) with fields only a 10 minute walk down the road, Stechford being a small outlying village.
Also noticeable are the vast amount of railway yards, including the former goods yard at Suffolk Street, a route that was walk-able up until fairly recently by hopping over a wall on the Worcester Birmingham Canal, the route ran through a series of tunnels slightly above and adjacent to the cross city line into New Street before emerging into a car park.
Real shame this route was not kept as a small alternative Terminus taking some of the pressure of New Street which runs at capacity for much of the day.
