Re: A Micky Mouse
CharcyEl MayorMr DriscollInspector MontalbanoOne of my mates used to drink this, I remember snake bites being banned for causing fights
I could never understand that/ I mean, let’s say the cider was 6% strength, and mixed with a lager of 4%, then that’s a 5% drink- so why was it banned- some chemical reaction or something?
I think it was a myth personally, but then again Stella got the nickname wife beater cos it was 5% and more alcoholic than most lagers at the time.
Yep it always got wheeled out as banned yet was available for a quid in every student union north of Oxford right into the 2000s.
The punk rock drink of choice! The two component drinks did indeed react - see the lumps in a Merridown cider with Special Brew tipped in. You could pep it up still further by chucking a Pernod & Black in (Red Witch/Purple Nasty). Actually, many of the punks who used to down them didn’t need a drink to start a fight in the first place.
Snakebites were banned at Edgbaston cricket ground in ca1984. But they’d happily sell you pints of lager and cider, oblivious to the fact you’d make your own!
