Re: SKY TV
Tilton sharkThey really really really really do not want you to cancel do they.
The other day I noticed that my sky bill had gone up, nothing new about that, however this time it was too much.
Last time I called they reduced it by about 30% and I stayed but this time I thought enough is enough.
Phoned em and was talking to cancellation/retentions team within a few seconds, very nice lady and did her best to help and got the bill down by about 30% then 40% with a £20 admin fee and a retrospective discount on the previous bill and this would more than negate the adim fee. Was tempted but though feck it and said I would still like to cancel. She gave me all of the info and said that it would cancel after my current month expired.
Job done............ Not quite
Sky phoned me back, this time a very polite chap asking me how sky could help. After explaining why I was cancelling (100% cost) and that my current contract would take me to the end of the football season he came up with some new figures and then some better ones.
Way better than I was offered on the phone call to them and he would also waive the admin charge making my monthly bill less than what I was paying years ago.
Upshot still got the full sky package with multi room, but if I do change my mind I've got 31 days to cancel.
How low would they go before it costs them money to provide the service??
Yep - Virgin were the same when I left. The initial department they put you through to don’t have enough power to reduce but, once you’ve made that ‘final’ decision to leave, the department with far more sway are straight on the phone with much improved offers. I didn’t relent though - am so glad I moved to Vodafone
