electric heating systems (7 replies)
I'm looking at a flat flat, all impressed on first viewing but the EPC rating is F. I'm put off by that reason as obvs energy bills are expensive. It's a second floor flat (top floor) of a 1960's block, with a flat roof. It's in the middle of the block so main concern is heat loss through the external wall and roof. It's assumed from the EPC that there's no or minimal insulation.
The things which pull the EPC down the most are the heating. The flat has no gas supply and has modern wall-mounted electric rads, and the water is heated with an electric immersion heater.
Has anyone got tips on what would be the cheaper/more efficient alternatives to these? I've been told storage heaters better than electric rads but I've never lived in a place without a gas supply so I'm not sure as to how much these things cost. I'm also not sure as to if there's a better way to heat water.
I don't mind spending money to save money, but it has to be worth it! Ta
