Why "hoping for survival" isn't a negative thought
But, unlike others, i don't think it's overly negative to just want "survival" this season.
We have nine new outfield permanent signings. It's going to take time to get some of them match fit, bedded in, used to each other and time to get them to blend together (something that can only come with more time).
I'm half expecting us to be fairly gash to start with, then, as the season progresses to see gradual and marked improvement. As long as we survive then this set of younger permanent signings will have had a whole season together and it won't be interrupted at the end by all of them disappearing (as loan players inevitably do).
Then, with a settled side, all staying, all used to each other, then this time next year we will probably be sat here thinking .... well, we've got the majority of the team in already - we just need ONE or two additions".
Even if we had that striker right now then the start, while everyone settles, would probably be inevitably slow anyway.
