More Heads Roll, “Resign” In Impeachment Fallout
John Rood, a top Pentagon official, is the latest to be purged since President Trump’s impeachment trial over the delay in sending military aid to Ukraine. Rood said he is leaving at the president’s request. Also, the U.S. Justice Department is denying reports that Attorney General William Barr might quit over frustration with Trump’s tweeting, PBS reported.
DOJ has denied the imminent resignation of AG Barr.
John C. Rood serves as the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He assumed this position on January 9, 2018. In this role he serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense for defense policy and leads the formulation and coordination of national security policy within the Department of Defense. Mr. Rood oversees integration of defense polices and plans to achieve desired objectives. He is responsible for efforts to build partnerships and defense cooperation with U.S. allies.
