Taliban commander loses both legs in premature mortar round explosion in Kabul

A Taliban commander lost his both legs and was left critically wounded after a mortar round went off prematurely in capital Kabul.
The 201st Silab Corps in a statement said the Taliban commander, Mullah Jan, was attempting to launch mortar rounds on a security forces camp in Ozbin Valley of Sarobi district.
However, the mortar round went off prematurely leaving three Taliban militants wounded including Mullah Jan who lost both his legs, the statement added.
The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incident so far.
Meanwhile, the 201st Silab Corps said the Taliban militants opened fire on security posts in Islamabad area of Alisheng district of Laghman.
According to Silab Corps, one of the bullets impacted a civilian house, leaving a civilian dead.
The Afghan forces killed 11 Taliban militants during the operations in Paktiya and Logar provinces, the Afghan military said.
The 203rd Thunder Corps in a statement said the Taliban militants attacked the security posts in Pir Laka area of Jani Khel district on Saturday night.
The statement further added that the Afghan forces effectively responded to the attack with the support of the Afghan Air Force, killing at least 6 militants.
The Taliban militants also launched an attack in Deh Naw area of Mohammad Agha district in Logar province which was repelled by the Afghan forces.
According to 203rd Thunder Corps, the Afghan forces killed 5 Taliban militants and wounded 6 others during the clash besides destroying some weapons and munitions of the militants.

The Afghan forces killed 16 Taliban militants during separate operations in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan, the Afghan military said.
The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said a group of Taliban militants ambushed a convoy of the Afghan forces between Zari district and Mazar-e Sharif city.
The statement further added the Afghan force carried out airstrikes in response to the attack, killing at least 14 militants and wounding 6 others.
The airstrikes also destroyed multiple weapons and vehicles of the militants, the statement added.
Meanwhile, the 209th Shaheen Corps said the Afghan forces responded to another Taliban attack in Chemtal district, killing at least 2 militants and wounding 4 others.
The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incidents so far.
