Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iranian scientist assassinated on Friday
In a statement on Friday evening, Foreign Minister Zarif strongly condemned the blind terrorist attack on Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, head of the Iranian Defence Ministry’s Research and Innovation Organization.
The ministry announced that the vehicle Fakhrizadeh was travelling in was attacked by armed terrorists in the afternoon on Friday (November 27, 2020).
The Israeli Defense Ministry has long held that Mohsen Fakhrizadeh is the top nuclear scientist of Iran and called the father of Iran’s nuclear program. To date, Iran is considered a non nuclear weapon state.
Jerusalem Post reports of a published Israel’s Foreign Ministry speech by Prime Minister Netanyah: “There’s another document from the archive. This is how Dr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, head of Project Amad, put it. Remember that name, Fakhrizadeh. So here’s his directive, right here. And he says: “The general aim is to announce the closure of Project Amad….” ”
In the shootout between Fakhrizadeh’s bodyguards and the terrorists, the scientist was seriously wounded and taken to hospital.
Unfortunately, read the statement, the medical team’s efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he succumbed to his injuries.
The defence ministry expressed condolences to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as well as the Iranian nation on the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the head of the Research and Innovation Department of the ministry.
From Iran Defense Ministry: Speaking to the state TV on Friday, Hatami said Fakhrizadeh was the leader of the team who developed one of the first Iranian kits for diagnosis of coronavirus.
According to the defence minister, Fakhrizadeh was a deputy minister and the head of the Defence Research and Innovation Organization of Iran.
“He had a great scientific profile and a long record in defence innovations. He had trained many students and his works in the defence field are huge and fruitful,” he added.
“He was an effective element in defence innovations. What the enemy did is clear: they target anywhere an effective step is taken for the Iranian nation,” he said.
“The defence sector, as a totally effective field for the Iranian people, has always been targeted and attacked by the enemy,” Hatami added.
