Staff Sgt. Keith Lewis, wife, unborn baby dead in murder suicide
Army Special Forces Command Fort Bragg Soldier Staff Sgt. Keith Lewis, 31 was found dead in what police believe is a murder suicide. Lewis is suspected of shooting Sarah Lewis, his 9 month pregnant wife due to deliver on Christmas, then turning the gun on himself.
Lewis was a Special Operations medic according to Stars and Stripes.
Sarah Lewis was taken to the hospital Sunday night, but did not survive.
Reports are that their 3 year old daughter was in the family’s house in Fayetteville.
Army Times reported that :
“Fayetteville police officer Lt. Lori Holloway confirmed over the telephone that Keith Lewis was the suspected perpetrator of the shootings, which occurred after a domestic altercation.
“The couple’s 3-year-old daughter was on scene at the time of the incident but she was not injured, police said in a statement.
Lewis was reportedly suffering from PTSD. Sarah was a paramedic with Harnett County Emergency Services, ABC reported.
‘We are profoundly saddened at the tragic passing of Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Lewis. Our soldiers and families are the bedrock of our unit and any loss deeply affects our formations. We are working to provide the utmost support to the family and our team, ’ Lt. Col. Mark Finnegan, 98th Civil Affairs Battalion Commander said.
