Paratrooper Pfc. Mikel Rubino, 29, found dead at Fort Bragg
The 82nd Airborne Division announced the death of one of its paratroopers in his Fort Bragg barracks Pfc. Mikel Rubino, 29, of Oroville, Calif. Could not be revived according to emergency medical services dispatched to his barracks room on Aug. 13, 2020.
“We mourn Mikel’s passing alongside his family,” Col. Phillip J. Kiniery III, commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team said.. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them all during this difficult time.”
Rubino is survived by his wife Alyssa, his daughter Legacy, and his mother Sheila, according to the statement. He joined the Army in 2020 and came to Fort Bragg this year.
in June, Spc. Joshua Diamond, 35, of Plymouth, Mass., and Pfc. Matthew Disney, 20, of Aberdeen, Md., paratroopers with the 82nd Airborne Division were found dead at Fort Bragg. Drugs were suspected.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half‐staff from sunrise until sunset on Friday, June 25, 2021, the day of interment, in honor of Specialist Joshua Diamond, United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, of Plymouth, MA, who passed away on June 11, 2021 at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
Spc. Joshua Diamond of Plymouth, Massachusetts was a 35-year-old member of the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers, Diamond deployed to Iraq last year. For his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and the Army Parachutist Badge. He served as a field artillery fire finder radar operator. Spc.
Diamond joined the Army in 2019 and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
