Newcastle have entered talks with Tottenham to sign Dele Alli with Eddie Howe sanctioning the move, according to Football Insider.
The 25-year-old has been tipped to leave Spurs this month with the club said to be considering offers for the midfielder (Sky Sports).
Alli has struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s side since his arrival in November, while he has failed to impress when given rare opportunities to prove himself.
Football Insider claims an exit is now firmly on the cards for Alli, with relegation-battlers Newcastle reportedly starting talks over his signing.
The report states the Magpies have already held ‘initial talks’ with Spurs over the England international to make a potential move to Tyneside.
It also adds that manager Howe, who previously prioritised making other moves over Alli, has had a ‘change of heart’ and has given the green light for his side to pursue a move.
Newcastle have already signed former Spurs defender Kieran Trippier and striker Chris Wood from Burnley this month.

Alli does not appear to be in Conte’s immediate plans for the rest of the season, so a move away seems like the best choice for both parties. He isn’t providing much value to Spurs just sitting there and he would get plenty of game time at Newcastle, which could tempt him across,
