Eric Dier’s absence from the Tottenham Hotspur squad for this evening’s FA Cup tie against Brighton is due to a small thigh problem, according to journalist Charlie Eccleshare.
The England defender has not been risked by manager Antonio Conte with two Premier League fixtures coming up next week with matches against Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Dier missed a fair chunk of last month with a thigh issue and it is the right decision from the club not to risk a relapse of the problem (transfermarkt).
Antonio Conte has named a central defensive trio of Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies, and the returning Cristian Romero for the cup tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Romero made his first appearance for the north Londoners since November 7th.

Dier has had a remarkable turnaround of form since Antonio Conte took charge of the club in November and is rightly not risked for a FA Cup tie when our main ambitions have to lie with a place in the top four.
