Tanguy Ndombele has admitted that he did have talks over a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain last month before eventually sealing a return to Lyon.
Ndombele completed a loan move to Lyon on transfer deadline day for a fee of €1.4m (£1.1m), with the Ligue 1 side having the option to make the deal permanent in the summer (OL).
However, for the majority of the January window, a move to PSG looked more likely for the 25-year-old. With around a week left in the window, ESPN’s Julien Laurens suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men were confident of signing the Spurs midfielder on loan.
The Frenchman’s move to Parc des Princes eventually fell through as PSG were not able to make space in the squad by offloading any of their current players (RMC Sport).
The Athletic have since revealed that PSG even tried to push through Ndombele’s signing by offering Abdou Diallo and Ander Herrera to Spurs as part of the deal but the North London club rejected the chance to sign either player.
Ndombele has now opened up on his failed move to PSG and has left the door open to joining the Parisians in the future.
The midfielder said in an interview with Julien Maynard at Telefoot: “It is true that I was associated with PSG, there were discussions.
“But between the discussions and the act, there is a long way. It was complicated with Paris for an exchange, they made it clear to me after a while.
“I listened and I respect Paris’ decision, I couldn’t do otherwise. A part of fate? Yes, maybe I shouldn’t go, maybe in the future, someday, I don’t know.”

Lyon are unlikely to be able to afford to sign Ndombele permanently at the end of his loan spell but it appears clear that the Frenchman does not have a future at Spurs under Conte.
Given that PSG’s interest in the 25-year-old is well documented, one would expect the Parisians to reignite their interest in the midfielder in the summer if he does well at Lyon.
