Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty five minutes of action against Southampton in the Premier League under the lights in north London.
Tottenham head into the break with the score level at 1-1 and looked desperate to hear the half time whistle with Saints dominating the play.
Hugo Lloris: Saved an obvious goal from close range from Che Adams within the first three minutes. Was down sharply to deny Ward-Prowse at his near post and also form Armstrong. Had a nervy moment just before the half time whistle from a corner kick. 7.
Emerson Royal: Partly at fault for Saints’ equaliser with some loose marking. 6.
Cristian Romero: Inches away from an opening goal but was ruled offside. Has been Spurs’ best defender but even showed a glimpse he is human with a poor late clearance which gifted a shot on goal. 7.
Davinson Sanchez: Still making silly mistakes, poor positional play nearly gifted Broja a second. 6.
Ben Davies: A costly slip inside his own penalty to gift Southampton an equaliser. 5.
Sergio Reguilon: Should have scored when played through on goal by Kane only to see his effort saved. 5.
Harry Winks: A lot of waving at team-mates over their positioning when he should also be tracking back deeper. 5.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Offered very little apart from his involvement in Spurs’ goal and has played a few sloppy passes. 5.
Lucas Moura: A lovely reverse pass to play in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the build-up to the first goal. Has looked lively down the right. 6.
Heung-min Son: Has tried to make things happen. 6.
Harry Kane: Played a brilliant pass to Reguilon for what should have been a goal. Has had little to feed on. 6.
