Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have been part of Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Manchester City press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the match at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow evening where they will face a tough challenge against the Premier League frontrunners.
PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal revealed earlier today that the planned return of in-person press conferences had been delayed as a result of Storm Eunice which is currently battering large parts of the UK.
Journalists are continuing to dial into the press conference via the Zoom web conferencing platform but with restrictions lifting, it had hoped today would have been the first opportunity for journalists to pose their questions to the Italian directly in a number of months.
Conte revealed that Eric Dier has returned in time to make the trip to Manchester this weekend after recovering from an injury. Steven Bergwijn also reportedly had a calf problem but has returned (Charlie Eccleshare).
Unfortunately, while Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp are said to be battling to make a return in the near future, both will miss this weekend’s match. Meanwhile, one unnamed Tottenham player has tested positive for COVID-19.
Team news: Dier's back, Skipp and Tanganga battling well but not ready.
Bergwijn had small calf issue but is now available.
One player has Covid, but everyone else is fine.

Conte said (Alasdair Gold): “Dier is available. Skippy is working and getting better but he’s not ready. Tanganga the same. We’ve recovered Bergwijn because 3 days ago he had a little problem in his calf.”
