Antonio Conte has provided a team news update to journalists who have been part of Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Leeds United press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the Premier League clash at Elland Road tomorrow afternoon.
Spurs make the trip to Yorkshire on what looks to have been another false dawn having beaten Manchester City last weekend, only to suffer a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Burnley on Wednesday evening while Leeds were humbled 6-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on the same evening.
Tottenham sit in eighth place in the table heading into the weekend with their hopes of a top-four finish diminishing after a rotten run of form which has seen them lose four of their last five games.
Conte confirmed that new signing Rodrigo Bentancur would not be involved against Leeds, although he was keen to point out it is not a ‘serious problem’ and he hopes to have the midfielder back soon.
The Spurs boss also revealed that he needs help from the medical department to get Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga back as soon as possible, but it looks as though they will miss the Leeds clash.
He said (Football London): “Unfortunately, he’s [Bentancur] not available for tomorrow’s game. He had a problem in his ankle. I don’t think this is a serious problem. I hope to see him in the team very soon but for sure he’s not available tomorrow.
“No this is another problem [Skipp]. I hope the medical department help me. Skipp is now one month missing. Same with Tanganga. I don’t want to put pressure on the medical department but for sure I need help with the situation.”
