Jamie Carragher has suggested Harry Kane’s passing ability is just as good as that of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.
Kane has seen his form trend upwards in recent games and was at the heart of Spurs’ 5-0 thrashing of Everton on Monday.
He scored twice in the encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which included his 176th Premier League goal to take him above Thierry Henry into sixth on the all-time list (Premier League).
Kane, in particular, took his second strike in deadly fashion when he volleyed home a left-footed shot past Jordan Pickford from a tight angle to help maintain Tottenham’s position in the top four race.
But the 28-year-old also continued to drop deep to receive the ball and put his range of passing to good use, which is something that impressed player-turned-pundit Carragher.
The former Liverpool defender admitted Kane may have lost some of his pace displayed earlier in his career but possesses a passing ability on a par to City’s De Bruyne.
Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “Dropping deeper is a natural progression for every striker. He hasn’t got the pace and the power that he used to have under [Mauricio] Pochettino. Very rarely do you see a world-class striker become a world-class No 10.
“He is as good as passing as Kevin De Bruyne, his striking of the ball and his range of passing is as good as anyone. When you have a player of that quality and nous, Conte should not give him too many instructions.”

Kane’s goal-scoring ability is obviously the first thing people speak about, but his passing is a severely underrated part of his game.
We have seen that trait get better and better over the years and it has been on full show in the last two seasons, which has made him such a complete and invaluable player.
