It was a great week for Spurs as we finally ended the Win-Loss streak which has been cursing us for much of 2022.
It feels fantastic to sit down this week and finally be able to speak out 3 winners and 3 losers from two back-to-back wins. So, with that being said, let’s find out who stood out and who let themselves down as Spurs gave their top 4 bid a much-needed boost.
Winners
Cristian Romero
How lucky are we to have Romero playing in a Spurs shirt? Against West Ham, Romero was colossal and dealt with the threat of Antonio brilliantly.
He was quick to get out and put the West Ham striker under a lot of pressure, limiting him to very few touches meaning he was unable to have much of an impact on the match.
And of course, how could we forget about Romero’s wonder goal against Brighton in midweek! Overall, a positive week for the young Argentine.
Rodrigo Bentancur
This man, in my opinion, has completely transformed our midfield. It is refreshing to see a Spurs midfield player with so much grace and elegance on the ball.
The Uruguayan never panics and had a brilliant moment against West Ham where he turned past the challenge of the West ham forwards on the edge of his own box. Many other players would have panicked there and given the ball away.
He is also contributing going forward, picking out a great pass for Kane to double our lead against Brighton.
This signing is beginning to look like a right steal!
Son Heung-Min
The third and final winner this week is Son. Whilst Kane is an honourable mention, I thought it was getting a bit boring, and it was time to give some other players some recognition!
Son is on this list as he was able to put some poor form behind him and score two important goals in Sunday’s London derby. It was a must-win game for Tottenham and Son made sure we got those three points.
Despite some recent poor performances, Son still finds himself joint second on the Premier League scoring charts and has turned up for us at some important moments this season, including on Sunday against West Ham.
Losers
Matt Doherty
Now, this is by no means an insult to Doherty, He has been fantastic recently and didn’t have a bad week, however, after two great performances, it is tough to pick the losers and I am basing this off small details.
When in control against the Hammers, Doherty needlessly gave a corner away, leading to West Ham’s goal which made the afternoon more difficult than it needed to be.
However, having said that, Doherty has been brilliant recently, and if he can cut these little mistakes out of his game, we have a good player on our hands!
Honestly, everyone was brilliant this week, and it is hard to pick two more Spurs losers! However, I will mention another loser of the week.
Kurt Zouma
Not a Spurs player, but let us all take a moment to laugh at Zouma! As a cat person myself, I took great pleasure in seeing Zouma turn the ball into his own next against Spurs and have our second of the afternoon deflect in off him.
I find it shocking that Zouma is still allowed to play and hope he is given correct education on how to treat animals with respect!
Overall, a good week for Spurs, and whilst it might still be hard to achieve top 4, with the way this up and down season has gone, we are not out of it yet. Let’s get a run together and end the season well.
