Arsenal have held talks with Lautaro Martinez’s representatives about a potential transfer this summer, with Inter Milan lining up reported Tottenham target Paulo Dybala as a replacement, according to CalcioMercato.
Martinez has been a key part of Inter’s squad since arriving at the club in 2018 and has produced another strong campaign for the reigning Serie A holders.
The 24-year-old has netted 14 goals for Simone Inzaghi’s side (Transfermarkt) which has put them in strong contention to retain their crown for another season.
And the form of the Argentine hitman has seemingly caught the attention of Arsenal, who are already eyeing up a transfer this summer.
CalcioMercato reports the Gunners have ‘concretely’ communicated with Martinez and his agents about a potential move at the end of the season. Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in a transfer.
This comes after TuttoMercatoWeb reported recently that Tottenham were working towards Martinez’s signature.
Despite the striker’s contract ending in 2026, Inter appreciate a transfer is not out of the question but will expect an offer upwards of £58.6 million to sanction a sale.
The report adds that should Martinez leave the San Siro, they could then move for Juventus star Dybala who is set to be a free agent at the end of term.
Inter’s presence could spell difficulty for Tottenham, who have been credited as frontrunners suitors for a potential Dybala deal (Sport).
Spurs Web Opinion
While there are many factors that could be involved, if Spurs want Dybala then they need to make a convincing offer to him that will draw his attention.
Granted it won’t be easy with so many other clubs likely to be interested in him, but they need to focus on what they can do to sign him rather than being preoccupied with what the rest are doing.
