Rumoured Tottenham target Mattias Svanberg has revealed that he is happy at Bologna but refused to rule out the possibility of leaving the Serie A club this summer.
Svanberg was said to be on Tottenham’s radar during January, with reports indicating that the club’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, previously tried to take the midfielder to Juventus (Inews).
The 23-year-old’s current deal at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara runs out in 2023 (Transfermarkt) and it was reported by Sport (28/03/22 edition via TEAMtalk) this week that Spurs are set to reignite their pursuit of the Sweden international when the transfer window reopens.
The report added that the Lilywhites are expected to face competition from Manchester United for Svanberg while the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and AC Milan were also tracking the midfielder’s situation.
Svanberg has now insisted that he is not thinking about leaving Bologna in the summer and is focused on continuing to perform for the club.
When asked about the speculation regarding his future, he told Expressen: “Right now I have no plan. I feel that I feel very good in Bologna and I have one year left on my contract so I am in no hurry.
“I take it as it comes. I enjoy playing a lot and there are great chances that I will stay, but of course, you can possibly be sold. It depends on how I continue to perform.”
When asked about his contract situation, Svanberg respond: “We have not started any negotiation phase. When that time comes, we will take it from there.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs will likely be in the market for a central midfielder this summer, with Winks potentially on his way out. The club could raid the Serie A once again, given Paratici’s and Conte’s expertise in the Italian market and Svanberg fits the profile of player we are likely to go after.
