Antonio Conte has revealed that, although he once thought Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League this season would be difficult, he now thinks his team are in the fight.
After a resurgence in form over recent weeks, paired with some top-four rivals dropping points, Tottenham are now just three points off fourth.
Arsenal currently occupy that final Champions League spot, three points ahead of Spurs and with a game in hand over their North London rivals. However, the two enemies still have to meet each other at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the end of the season.
Man United, West Ham, and Wolves are also lurking in the shadows and waiting to pounce on the North Londoners should they hit a poor run of form.
Conte believes Tottenham will have to fight until the end to have any hope, but added that playing in the Champions League next season is ‘important’ to him.
He said (Football London): “If you had asked me [before] about our possibility to reach a place in the Champions League, I would say very, very difficult.
“Now I think we have to try to fight until the end to have the possibility to reach this target.
“I think to play in the Champions League next season is important for me, important for the players and the fans. To play in the CL is completely different to the Europa League and Conference League.
“It’s a different target for the club because you can plan for important things.”
#thfc Conte on the race for the Champions League: "It's right to underline that this target is v v difficult. We are not the only team that wants to try to do this miracle. There's also Arsenal, that in this moment has an advantage, and then there is United."

Conte says it would be a “miracle” if either #THFC or Arsenal finished in top four given how strong the usual top four are. He adds: “Five months ago I would have said it would be very very difficult. Now I’m seeing great improvements from my team. It’s a possibility.”

Spurs Web Opinion:
Tottenham have as good a chance as any team now. Arsenal are only three points ahead but still have to play Spurs and have a tougher run-in. Their game-in-hand is also on Chelsea, so that is no guaranteed result.
