Tanguy Ndombele has admitted he is regaining his sharpness with each passing week on loan at Lyon from Tottenham Hotspur.
Ndombele returned to Lyon on loan on transfer deadline day, with the Ligue 1 club having the option to make the deal permanent for £54m (Sky Sports).
The Frenchman impressed in his first few outings on his return to the Groupama Stadium and some sources suggested that although Lyon may not be able to sign him permanently, they are already exploring the possibility of extending his loan deal (Jeunes Footeux).
However, some of the midfielder’s displays over the last month have been well under par, with Peter Bosz’s side struggling for consistency.
The on-loan Tottenham man has been accused of running out of steam in some matches (OL Play via Jeunes Footeux), which might not come as a surprise to some Spurs fans.
However, the 25-year-old has now insisted that he is feeling a lot better and expressed his keenness to finish the campaign strongly.
Ndombele told Foot Mercato: “I feel better and better. In this final sprint [in the league], I hope to be able to give as much as possible [on the pitch] for the team.
“I hope that in the end, everything will go well. I wish we had been ranked higher [in the table].
“Personally, I’m quite happy. But when the results are not good, we are not satisfied collectively. The objective is to win the matches together. The team comes first.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Ndombele was always going to take a couple of months to hit his stride, given his lack of game time at Tottenham ahead of his exit. Spurs will be hoping that the 25-year-old has a strong finish to the season so that the likes of PSG would show interest in signing the midfielder this summer.
