Everton are planning to offer rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon a new contract, according to The Athletic.
The 21-year-old is reported to have attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United but are unwilling to part with the academy graduate with toffees boss Frank Lampard is said to be vehemently against the potential of Gordon leaving the club.
Everton’s plans to reward Gordon with a new deal have been in the pipeline and are not a result of the recent interest shown in the midfielder.
Lampard considers the England under-21 international to be a key part of his plans going forward with a new deal to reflect his status within the squad.
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has revealed on Twitter last month that Tottenham had cooled their interest in the player due to Everton’s reluctance to sell.

After losing Richarlison, Everton risk the wrath of their supporters if they were to also sell him during the current window and a new contract is likely to be the best option.
Tottenham need to address their homegrown issue and Gordon would have certainly been one option, his transfer valuation is likely to significantly increase once he signs a new long-term deal on Merseyside.
