AC Milan have cooled their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga, CBS Sports Golazo journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed on Twitter.
The Serie A giants have a long-standing interest in the defender, having also been linked with a move for Tanganga back in the January transfer window, only for a move to fail to materialise.
Jacobs also claimed that Tanganga also has interest from AS Roma, who are managed by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Monday that Milan were ready to abandon their pursuit of Tanganga and turn their attention instead in the direction of Paris Saint-Germain’s Abdou Diallo.
Tanganga had been involved in Tottenham’s three opening pre-season friendlies in South Korea and Glasgow, only for illness to rule him out of the match in Israel against Roma (Tom Barclay).
Spurs still very much pursuing Nicola Zaniolo, who is open to a move. Outgoings the priority but talks with Roma could see a player go the other way. Milan have cooled on Japhet Tanganga for now. Jose Mourinho likes him. One to watch.

Tanganga’s future appears to be held up by a difference of opinion on what type of loan deal. Tottenham are likely to be keen to add in an obligation to buy while Milan would prefer to have the option to trigger a permanent move.
Looking at the depth of the current defensive options in north London, a move away from the club would benefit Tanganga in the long term considering he’s quite a way down in the central defensive pecking order and unlikely to be utilised as a right wing-back.
