Football London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Oliver Skipp is aiming to begin outdoor work later this week as he steps up his return from injury.
This comes after the Spurs midfielder suffered a freak injury in training at Hotspur Way in the summer, leaving him with a nasty cut after a teammate landed on his foot following an aerial duel.
The resulting hairline fracture has kept Skipp out of Tottenham’s opening two Premier League fixtures, the 4-1 home win over Southampton and the 2-2 away draw with Chelsea.
Since his injury, Skipp has been wearing a protective boot but is hoping to start light outdoor work at Hotspur Way by the end of this week.
The Spurs academy graduate hasn’t had much luck with injuries of late, having missed the second half of last season with a pelvic problem.
However, he will be hoping to put those problems behind him in the coming weeks and start competing with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Yves Bissouma for minutes on the pitch.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Skippy deserves to get some chances back on the pitch as he’s had rotten luck of late. He always looks class when he’s involved and I fully expect him to push the big names all the way in terms of getting consistent minutes on the pitch this season.
