Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that Ivan Perisic was hit with a fine after failing to turn up to court on Wednesday in a defamation case involving Mauro Icardi.
Perisic, Icardi’s former Inter Milan teammate, was expected to appear before the judge in Milan this week.
The defamation case was reportedly launched against photographer Fabrizio Corona, who is said to have published an article titled ‘Mauro Icardi divorces his wife – Wanda Nara cheated on her partner with Marcelo Brozovic’, back in 2019.
Gazzetta explain that Perisic is involved in the trial and was expected to be in court on Wednesday as a witness.
However, Tottenham had a Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on the same day, which meant that the 33-year-old could not fulfil his responsibility.
As a result, Perisic has reportedly been fined €500 (£435m) and judge Elisabetta Canevini is thought to have ordered for the Tottenham man to be brought to testify by the police when the next hearing takes place, which is now expected to be January 25th.

This is quite a bizarre story. It is worth noting that the FA Cup’s fourth round is scheduled for January 28th and that could get in the way of Perisic reporting for the hearing if Spurs win their third round tie.
