Richarlison has admitted that he fears the injury he picked up against Everton might put him out of the World Cup in Qatar, which starts next month.
There were plenty of positives for Tottenham to come out of their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
Ivan Perisic and Matt Doherty both shone in the wing-back roles while Yves Bissouma impressed after coming on in the final 30 minutes.
In addition, the home side proved once again in the second half that they are capable of adapting to a 3-5-2 system, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentnacur showing that they can provide an attacking thrust when given the freedom to get forward.
However, the one negative to come from the game was Richarlison’s injury, with Conte admitting that the striker is definitely out for the clash against Manchester United on Wednesday, and adding that a scan is needed to assess the extent of the damage (FootballLondon).
Richarlison has now opened up on his concerns, explaining that a similar injury last season put him out of action for two months.
When asked about how long he is expected to be out for, the 25-year-old told ESPN Brazil after the game: “It’s kind of hard to say because it’s close to a realization, to my dream (the World Cup). I’ve already suffered an injury like this, similar, but I hope it can heal as soon as possible. or less, about two months (stopped), there at Everton.”
“I know it’s hard to talk right now, but let’s see, I’ll recover. Monday (17), I have an exam to do, but even walking hurts. Let’s wait. maybe in Qatar.
“It’s all so close, it’s about a month to go, and we’ve been getting ready, working every day so that nothing serious can happen. Unfortunately, today I had this calf injury, but now it’s just a matter of waiting and doing the treatment every day so that I can recover as soon as possible.”

There is something far more romantic about the Selecao compared with other nations, given how passionate Brazilian football fans are about their national side and the history that they have in the World Cup.
So representing the country in a World Cup is a huge honour for every Brazilian footballer and it must be heartbreaking for Richarlsion to realise that the dream might slip away from him after all the hard work he has put in to establish himself as the country’s first-choice number nine.
