According to a report in Bild, Tottenham Hotspur could challenge Arsenal in their pursuit of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.
Torres only swapped Manchester City for Barcelona back in January of this year but the Spaniard has not had the expected impact at Camp Nou, having found the back of the net just 12 times in 44 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).
He has fallen down Xavi Hernandez’s pecking order this season after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha back in the summer.
Bild now claim that Torres could be on his way out of the Catalan club, just 12 months on from arriving, with Arsenal said to be eyeing a move for the 22-year-old after the injury to Gabriel Jesus.
The report explains that the former Manchester City man is also on the radars of both Spurs and AC Milan ahead of the January transfer window.
It is explained that Barcelona will not sell Torres on the cheap, having paid €55m (£47.2m) for his services earlier this year.
Spurs Web Opinion
As with some of the other transfer targets that have been mooted over recent weeks (like Thuram and Deapy), I do not believe that Torres will fit the profile of forward that Conte is looking for.
The Spaniard prefers playing on the left or through the middle but is not very effective on the right of a front three, which is the position that Tottenham will be looking to strengthen in January.
