Radio Radio have reported that Arsenal could bid for rumoured Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo in the January transfer window as they look to reinforce their front line.
Both Spurs and Arsenal have walked away from the World Cup with injuries to key Brazilian strikers in Richarlison and Jesus. Fortunately, the January transfer window offers an opportunity to invest.
Radio Radio claim that the Gunners have been monitoring Zaniolo and may submit a £22m bid once the window opens, with the Italian’s contract running out in the summer of 2024 (TransferMarkt).
However, TuttoMercatoWeb recently reported that Zaniolo is in no hurry to leave Roma, and would cost around £25.8m in the summer, let alone mid-season.
Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed that Tottenham had made an approach for the attacker in the summer, but preferred a part-exchange deal while Roma were looking for straight cash (Wettfreunde). CalcioMercato also reported earlier this year that Conte was determined to sign the Roma man.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Zaniolo is one of those players I just wouldn’t take the risk on. You could get a great player, but I feel like it’s more likely you get an already injury-plagued star who will struggle to adapt to the physicality and speed of the Premier League.
