Brighton boss, Roberto De Zerbi, has seemingly opened the door for Leandro Trossard to remain at the club and work his way back into the team, following rumours of a fallout.
This comes after Trossard’s agency made a very honest and public statement on the situation, highlighting a breakdown in communication between player and manager before urging Brighton to sell the Belgian international in January (Telegraph).

Football Insider then claimed that Tottenham are readying a ‘big-money’ bid for the attacker after already having one offer turned down by their Premier League rivals. Trossard is apparently excited by the links to Spurs and is keen on a Champions League move this month.
However, the Seagulls reportedly do not want to part ways with one of their star players, and De Zerbi has now spoken openly about the situation, seemingly trying to conduct damage control and giving Trossard a way back into the Brighton fold.
He said (Express): “I wanted to answer clearly about Leo. I am sorry for this situation, I think I didn’t make a mistake with him.
“The people who work inside of Brighton know very well the situation. I am fine with myself. I am open to waiting for him because he’s a good guy. He’s a very good player for us, a very important player.
“I don’t want him to change team but he has to understand that he has to work with my attitude and in my way because I am the coach and I decide the rules inside of the dressing room.
“I have the responsibility of my players, of my club. I am very honest, when I want to say something – I speak inside the family and our family is inside of the dressing room.”
“I don’t want to speak about the communication from his agent because I don’t know him. I only know Leo and I am ready to listen to him without problem.
“His situation is a very important situation, it’s not a bad situation, it’s a great situation because if he learns and we improve what will be our way, we can only improve and to achieve the important result, to achieve our dreams we have to know we have only one way.
“That’s to be open to improve, to be ready to work hard because we are Brighton. To play in Brighton, we are a team of medium level in this competition [the Premier League]. We have to think of the team.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I think De Zerbi would come out and say this no matter the truth. Brighton need to conduct damage control, either to get Trossard back in the team, or to prevent his value from plummeting. I suspect he will be sold in the next six months, it’s just whether Spurs can get a January deal done.
