Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways against Fulham last night as they put one goal past the Cottagers without reply. Let’s take a look at five things we learned from the match:

Harry Kane will always be the difference-maker – In what was a rather boring and uneventful game, Harry Kane stepped up once again to provide that one moment of world-class finishing to turn one point into all three. You, quite literally, cannot buy that talent in the market at the moment. And with him levelling up Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Spurs tally, Kane is now cemented as one of, if not THE, all-time greats.
Emerson Royal back in favour – Is it another message from Conte to the board that he wants a new right-wing-back? Who knows, but Emerson Royal seems to be flavour of the month again after his goal against Man City. And, in truth, despite his many flaws, he actually played pretty well against Fulham. However, the limitations in that position are there for all to see and most Spurs fans would be gutted not to see Pedro Porro come in this month – and maybe Djed Spence get a loan move.
Kulusevski worry – Tottenham’s ginger from Sweden went down holding his knee in the second half and appeared to be carrying a knock for the rest of the match until he was taken off. Conte has only just got his right winger back from injury for fingers crossed it is nothing serious. Spurs simply don’t look the same without him.
The Son solution – Yes, he got an assist of sorts, despite Harry Kane doing most of the heavy lifting on that particular move, but Sonny was absent once again on the left. He seems devoid of all confidence at the moment and gives the ball away more often than not. At times, 20 minutes goes by without him seemingly being involved. I think the best thing for everyone would be to bench him for a couple of games and let him be an impact sub when the opposition are tired. A goal off the bench could be the confidence booster he needs to kickstart some form again.
The top four race – While Tottenham look miles off it in terms of quality, the top four is still there for the taking if they can actually turn a corner and string some wins together. A victory at home to Man City, in particular, would be a big statement. Spurs are now fifth and just three points behind Man United and Newcastle in fourth and third respectively. The two rivals have a game in hand on Spurs, but both of them dropping points this week has the table looking a lot better than it did three days ago for the Lilywhites. It reminds me of this time last season when a couple of new signings made all the difference for Conte in the race for Champions League football…
