Ahead of Leicester City’s showdown with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Brendan Rodgers has spoken in glowing terms of Harry Kane, remarking that the Spurs star has every quality that you would want in a centre-forward.
While the limelight has been on Erling Haaland following the brilliant start he has made to his Premier League career, Kane is quietly having an outstanding campaign himself, having found the back of the net 17 times in 22 Premier League games so far (Transfermarkt).
The 29-year-old wrote his name into the history books with his match-winner against Manchester City last Sunday, moving past Jimmy Greaves to become Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The strike was also Kane’s 200th Premier League goal, with the England captain having reached the landmark faster than the other two legends have done so – Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney (Premierleague.com).
One would certainly not bet against the Tottenham man adding to his tally on Saturday, with Leicester being his favourite opponents in the Premier League.
When asked about Kane ahead of the game, Rodger told Leicester Mercury: “He has absolutely everything. He’s a world-class player. It’s not just the consistency. He’s been relentless. It’s not by accident.
“It’s hard work on the training field. He’s got every tool that you would want as a top striker. He scores goals, he links the game, he’s tough, he’s mentally strong. He’s a brilliant player, a great leader.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I have always believed that the best judges of players are their fellow peers and the managers in the game. It is clear to see that Kane is held in extremely high regard by his teammates, opponents and opposing managers, who cannot stop waxing lyrical about him.
