CalcioMecatoWeb.it have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have identified the sporting directors of Lazio and Napoli – Igli Tare and Cristiano Giuntoli respectively – as potential replacements for Fabio Paratici.
It emerged on the back of Juventus’ capital gains trial in Italy last month that the Serie A giants would be hit with a 15-point deduction while Paratici was in line for a 30-month suspension (Gianluca Di Marzio).
Multiple sources have said that the 50-year-old’s future at Tottenham appears to be in doubt as the sanction is likely to be extended to the UK (Tancredi Palmer) but Spurs are yet to comment on the matter.
The Mirror suggested last week that the North London club could turn to Benfica talent spotter Rui Pedro Braz if Paratici’s ban is not overturned.
CMW.it has now reported that Tottenham have could look towards the Serie A to replace their managing director of football.
The publication states that Spurs have been impressed by Tare’s work at Lazio and, with the Albanian’s current deal at Stadio Olimpico only running till June, he could be targeted by the Premier League club in the summer.
Giuntoli is said to be another name on Tottenham’s radar to take over the reins from Paratici following the success stories of Napoli’s recent acquisitions, including Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are probably waiting for the verdict of Juventus’ appeal. The fact that Paratici remains the face of the club’s football operations suggests that they are relatively confident that the ban will be overturned. However, one would expect the club to be making contingency plans in case it is not.
