The Athletic have revealed that Luis Enrique is a leading contender on Fabio Paratici’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte.
Conte’s days at Tottenham now appear to be numbered after the club’s elimination from the Champions League on Wednesday, which effectively guaranteed that their trophy drought will go on for another year.
The Italian himself suggested following the 1-0 aggregate loss against AC Milan that the North London club could sack him before his contract runs out in the summer (Prime Video via Fabrizio Romano).
The Athletic have now revealed that Levy has tasked Paratici with compiling a list of suitable candidates to replace the 53-year-old.
It is asserted that Enrique is likely to be at the top of the Spurs managing director’s wishlist as he has admired the Spaniard for a long time. The 52-year-old has been out of work since parting ways with Spain after the World Cup in Qatar.
Enrique’s last job in club management was at Barcelona, where he won two league titles, Copa del Rey and a Champions League title in his three years in charge between 2014 and 2017.

Tottenham will be taking a huge gamble by appointing Enrique since the Spaniard has not had a job in club football for almost six years.
It would be a much safer bet to look at someone whose style of play has proven to work in the Premier League, with Roberto De Zerbi being the most obvious candidate.
