Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham have not yet decided whether to sell Hugo Lloris this summer or to bring in another goalkeeper to offer the Frenchman competition.
Lloris has been at Tottenham since 2011 and has been the club captain for the majority of that time but the goalkeeper has shown clear signs of decline this season.
Over the last couple of months, multiple publications have reported that Spurs are expected to be in the market for the Frenchman’s successor in the summer (Daily Mail).
Football Insider claimed a couple of weeks ago that Lloris is not likely to stick around as an understudy next season if the Lilywhites do indeed sign a first-choice goalkeeper.
The report alleges that the North London club would be open to selling him for a small fee this summer, with several Ligue 1 clubs thought to have shown interest in the experienced goalkeeper.
Jones has now suggested that Spurs have not yet made a final decision on their number one’s future and revealed that the club are keeping their captain informed of the situation.
When asked about Lloris’, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “Spurs have been contemplating his future for a little while now and Lloris knows the situation.
“Everything comes to an end at some point, it’s just a case of finding the right guy to replace him and making sure that you can do that.
“Initially, will it be that Tottenham bring in somebody to try and go head-to-head with him? Or is it an immediate replacement? I think that’s quite a big thing for them to contemplate.”

Lloris has too much pride to be an understudy next season and would not want to waste a full season on the bench, given that he might only have a couple of years of football left in him.
So, I suspect that the most likely outcome is for the Frenchman to return to Nice this summer.
