Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski has been speaking to the press about various topics and has praised his coach Ryan Mason.
After Antonio Conte left Spurs at the end of last month, his former assistant Cristian Stellini has been overseeing first-team affairs with support from Mason.
The former Tottenham player knows all about managing the first team, having taken over as caretaker manager back in 2021 when Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club.
Mason became the youngest-ever manager in the Premier League at that time, and remains a bright prospect in the coaching world.
He retired in 2018 due to injury, and clocked up 70 appearances for Spurs during his playing days (Transfermarkt).
It’s been a difficult year for all involved with Tottenham this season, and Kulusevski has certainly felt the effects of that.
The Swedish star was electric upon joining Spurs last year, but has failed to live up to those standards this season.
Speaking to Football.London, he explained what it’s like working with Mason and why he likes the young coach’s perspective.
Kulusevski said: “I like him a lot, because you know he was a player there just a couple of years ago. He knows how it is to be in our shoes.
“Like today, I spoke to him after the training, he was seeing something when I was shooting and trying to correct it, ask me about what I think when I shoot like that.
“It’s good when you can speak with someone who knows what they’re talking about because he was in your shoes a couple of years ago. He’s a fantastic guy honestly.”
Spurs Web Opinion
What Ryan Mason lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in his attitude and how relatable he is for the players in the Spurs squad.
I do think we could be better off just letting him take the reigns for the rest of the season instead of Stellini.
