According to journalist Tom Barclay, there are no plans for Vincent Kompany to take over as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur at this time.
Tottenham are searching for a new permanent manager once more after parting ways with Antonio Conte at the end of last month.
It is thought former Manchester City captain Kompany is now one of the top names on the shortlist of candidates for the vacant role at Spurs (Daily Star).
Since retiring as a player in 2020, Kompany has built an impressive reputation as a coach. He took over at Burnley last summer, and has led the side to promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking.
Much praise has been lavished on Kompany’s man management style and the manner in which his teams play on the pitch.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is believed to be particularly keen on hiring Kompany (Daily Mail).
However, Football Insider claimed this week that Kompany was ready to reject any job offers and stick with Burnley next season, despite interest from Spurs and Chelsea.
Now, in an appearance on the Tottenham Way podcast, this notion has been backed up by journalist Tom Barclay, who claims a move is not on the cards for Kompany.
He said: “Should [Spurs] have gone for someone now? Because they could have.
“Back to the point about Vincent Kompany, the feeling I get from the club is that there isn’t anything specific on the horizon right now, whether you like that or not.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Kompany has a job to do at Burnley right now and I’m sure he will be focused on ending the season in style.
It doesn’t sound like he is keen to jump ship in the summer either, so we’ll have to see if anything changes but I can’t see it happening.
