Arne Slot is now just one step away from winning the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord, who have now managed an astounding 11 league wins in a row.
If Slot does lead Feyenoord to the title, one can argue that it would be an even more impressive feat than Erik Ten Hag’s at Ajax, given that the Rotterdam club to not have the same resources.
Feyenoord currently sit eight points clear at the top of the Eredivisie after 31 matches, having scored 78 times this season while conceding just 28.
The club are unbeaten in their last 24 league games and their 2-0 win over Excelsior on Sunday means that they have now won 11 matches in a row in the top flight.
That means that the Dutch club need just two more points (from their last three games) to win the title and a win over Go Ahead Eagles this Sunday would be enough to clinch the prize.
ESPN reported last week that Slot is now emerging as a ‘serious contender’ for the Spurs job alongside Julian Nagelsmann, and if Feyenoord do get the job done this weekend, it would surely only further boost the 44-year-old’s candidacy.
Spurs Web Opinion
While guiding Feyenoord to a comfortable title win would in itself be impressive, the fact that Slot is on the verge of achieving that while also getting his side to play an expansive brand of football is what makes him such a sought-after candidate.
However, the intensity and quality of the Premier League cannot be compared to Dutch football while the qualify of managers he will compete against England is also a couple of notches higher.
So, there really is no guarantee that he would be able to succeed at Spurs if he gets the job.
