Former Tottenham player Jermaine Jenas has lambasted the club for what he describes as a ‘shambles’ of a season, but reserved praise for Harry Kane as the one shining light.
It has been a disastrous campaign by all accounts this year for Spurs. Performances and results on the pitch have been way below the standard many would expect and hope, and the North London side now find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League table.

Qualification for the Europa Conference League is the best that can be achieved now after defeat at Brentford over the weekend, and even that is out of Tottenham‘s hands. There is a very real chance Spurs could finish as low as ninth by the end of the season.
Away from the football, Spurs parted ways with Antonio Conte in March, before sacking his interim replacement, Cristian Stellini, after just four games and placing Ryan Mason in charge until the end of the season.
Speaking to the BBC on the disappointing campaign, Jenas had this to say: “Like a lot of Spurs fans [I am] lost, confused at what everybody’s seeing.
“I think the standard of football has been shocking at times.
“How Harry Kane has managed to get 28 goals and have the season he’s had I don’t know.
“It arguably goes down as one of his best seasons simply because of what he’s been playing with.”
When it comes to affairs off the field, Jenas added: “I think there is shambles that we’ve all had to deal with off the pitch as well with the management with no real messaging coming from the club either as to what they’re doing moving forward.
“I don’t think it’s been good at all and [the 3-1 defeat by Brentford] was just a follow-up on that. The fans left.
“They’ve voiced their opinion and they showed their opinion and how they felt about the season by leaving and not giving the players the salute you’d usually get at the end of the season.
“I don’t think any player in that dressing room can sit there and expect one really.
“It’s been really disappointing and I’m sure the fans will be watching closely now at those next steps and what the club’s doing to make sure this doesn’t happen again next year.”

From top to bottom, this season has been miserable.
We limped out of every cup competition we were in, we’re set for an abysmal league placing, and we have no manager or director of football.
Things need to change quickly, and next season needs to be a huge improvement.
