Journalist Dean Jones has explained that a lot of sources are confused about the speculation linking Harry Kane with a move to Bayern Munich, given how adamant German publications are that a deal is on the cards this summer.
We relayed a report from 90 min on Wednesday, which claimed that Tottenham were continuing to maintain that Kane is not for sale and that the North London club are increasingly confident that Ange Postecoglou would convince the striker to stay.
However, SportBild stated on Thursday that Bayern are continuing to play a game of ‘poker’ with Daniel Levy, with the Bundesliga club believing that a deal is doable.
The publication further added that Kane is in constant contact with Thomas Tuchel and is determined to make the switch to Allianz Arena as he believes that Bayern can compete for the Champions League title.
The report even asserted that the 29-year-old is prepared to threaten his employers that he will join the Bavarian club on a free transfer next summer if they do not let him go now.
There is confusion around Harry Kane’s future
Jones has now stated that many sources do not know what to believe, particularly since Kane’s camp are not denying any of the reports emanating from Germany.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “There is a calmness around Spurs while this Harry Kane rumour flies around.
“Lots of sources are confused because they do not genuinely see Kane making this transfer but, at the same time, there is such conviction in the German reporting that there is definitely some substance to it.
“And people around Kane that would normally deny this stuff are not doing so. Will Bayern get towards £100m if they make a new offer? That’s the only way we find out how real this pursuit can become.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the various updates from Bild and Sky Germany, it is quite clear that Kane is keen on making the move to the Allianz Arena this summer.
So, the deal seems entirely dependent on whether Bayern are able to agree a fee with Levy. I suspect that the Tottenham chairman would find it difficult to turn down an offer of £85m-£90m plus add-ons.
