Manor Solomon has described his move to Tottenham Hotspur as a ‘dream come true’, admitting that he is extremely excited to take on a new challenge at one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.
Solomon becomes the third new player to arrive through the door at Hotspur Way this summer following the acquisitions of Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison, while Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski have also joined on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old will add some pace and flair to the side and will fill the void left by the departures of Lucas Moura and Arnuat Danjuma.
The Athletic reported last week that Spurs saw off competition from several sides including Barcelona, to sign the winger, with the player allegedly having his heart set on a move to N17 as soon as he heard of the club’s interest.
Solomon admitted that growing up as a kid in Israel, he did not think he would be able to make the step up to a club like Spurs so early in his professional career.
A dream come true to join Tottenham
He said in his first interview with the club’s official channel: “I’m really excited to be here, to come to a big club like Tottenham is a dream come true for me.
“I feel the excitement here, straight away. I see the players, I see the club, I see what is going on here, everything is at the top, at the highest level.
“Every football player dreams to play for a club like Tottenham and now, with the new manager coming in, I think there will be some successful years for this club.
“If you told me this 10 years ago, I don’t know if I would have believed it, that when I turned 23, soon 24, I’d be playing for Tottenham.”
“I can’t wait to see the team and to meet the manager. It’s going to be different with the new manager. The football will be more offensive, more attacking, it will entertain our fans. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Maddison and Vicario both referenced their conversation with Postecoglou and how it excited them about their project at Spurs, and Solomon is no different, revealing that the new Tottenham head coach was clear on what he expects of him.
He added: “I spoke with the manager and understood what he wants and what he demands from the team, from the wingers in particular, I know he wants to see attacking football, to see pressure, to have the ball, to play really attacking football that will entertain our fans.
“I think I am suitable for this challenge, and I can fit the team. I will do whatever I can to help the team to succeed, to improve as a player and try to improve the team.”
Spurs Web Opinion
This is an extremely underrated signing and I expect Solomon to surprise a few people next season. While he might not be a guaranteed starter from the beginning oft the season the 23-year-old would be a very useful impact substitute to bring on from the bench.
The Israeli’s aggressive and high-intensity style is a perfect fit for Postecoglou’s style of play and he showed his ability to cut in and find the back of the net during his loan stint at Fulham.
