Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has stated that Ange Postecoglou sets extremely high standards but the Australian is not one who is prone to emotional outbursts like his predecessor Antonio Conte.
Last week, it was reported by Dan Kilpatrick in The Evening Standard that the players and staff at Hotspur Way have already noticed that Postecoglou has a completely different way of going about things than Conte.
Rather than the gruelling sessions that Spurs players were used to under the Italian, pre-season training so far under the new boss has focused mostly on ball work, with drills aimed at implementing the quick one and two-touch football that the Australian demands from his side.
Kilpatrick added that Postecoglou is not a micro-manager and is happy to allow different Spurs departments to run themselves and that the food in the canteen is more varied than it was during Conte’s regime.
Postecoglou is upfront and honest with demands
Bridge has now explained that while the new Tottenham head coach is no pushover, he is not one who is prone to public rants or to expressing anger on the touchline.
The journalist told GiveMeSport about Postecoglou: “It looks like he takes no prisoners. He’s not a Conte kind of manager where he’ll be screaming on the touchline, but he keeps his anger inside.
“He knows what he wants and then you’ll know about it. That’s what I’ve been told.
“He is very good with the media. He doesn’t get too close with anyone in the media and I think he is a very good addition to the Premier League.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The Spurs bosses (and some fans) will be relieved that they would no longer have to deal with the fallout from the controversial statements that are made in press conferences.
Unlike Mourinho and Conte, who can be quite temperamental, Postecoglou is generally quite measured with his words.
