The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham are open to offering Harry Kane a post-retirement role if he signs a new contract with the North London club.
Kane has now entered the final year of his Tottenham contract, meaning he could leave his boyhood club on a free transfer next summer.
The Mail claim that while Spurs want Kane to sign a new deal, he has shown no desire to put pen to paper while the transfer window is still open.
Tottenham’s new contract offer would reportedly take Kane’s weekly earnings to ‘beyond’ £400,000, but the Lilywhites may offer him something even more long-term.
Spurs could offer Harry Kane a job after he retires
Spurs are said to be open to talking about Kane taking up a position with the club after he retires, and will talk to him about multiple roles during any contract negotiations.
Ledley King and Michael Dawson are currently Tottenham ambassadors, while Ryan Mason had served as both a coach and an interim manager. Mark Noble becoming West Ham’s technical director has also been cited as an example.
It remains to be seen whether Kane would be receptive to such an offer, or if he will push for a move away from the club in the next 12 months.
Spurs Web Opinion:
It certainly appears that Tottenham are pulling out all the stops to get Kane to sign a new deal. There is an understanding that his link with Spurs goes beyond the pitch, and Levy is seemingly keen to tie him to the club for many years to come, even beyond his playing days.
Essentially, Spurs are offering him the most elevated legend status you can offer a player, plus a whole lot of money.
