Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will spend the bulk of any transfer fee they receive for Harry Kane on signing a new striker.
At the start of this week, multiple outlets reported that Spurs have decided to cash in on Kane this summer if the striker decides against putting pen to paper on a new lucrative £400,000 per week contract offered by the North London club (Daily Mail and Mirror).
This has now been backed up by Football Insider who state that the Lilywhites are concerned about losing a guaranteed 25-goal striker from their squad.
Spurs will look for a big Harry Kane replacement
As a result, they are planning to reinvest the bulk of any fee received for Kane on a new marquee number nine rather than relying primarily on Richarlison to lead the line next season.
Football Insider also reveal that Dusan Vlahovic is one of the players who has been identified as a potential replacement for the England captain but they add that Paris Saint-Germain are on the Serbian’s trail as well.
Spurs Web Opinion
Richarlison is ideally suited for Postecoglou’s system, which is why I do not think the loss of Kane would be the end of the world for Spurs by any stretch of the imagination.
However, the Brazilian is certainly going to need competition for his place in the side, which is why signing another top-class number nine is a must for the club if Kane leaves.
