AS reporter Javi Miguel has suggested that Xavi Hernandez might not get his wish of bringing Giovani Lo Celso to Barcelona unless the La Liga giants managed to offload some of their players.
The likes of Real Betis (Fabrizio Romano), Barcelona (Sport), Napoli (CalcioMercato) and Aston Villa (Estadio Deportivo) have been credited with an interest in Lo Celso over the last few weeks.
In fact, the print edition of Marca (15/07/23 – as relayed by Sport Witness) even claimed a couple of weeks ago that Barcelona believed they would be able to sign the Tottenham man on a loan deal this summer.
However, Lo Celso has been one of Spurs’ standout performers in the two pre-season friendlies so far.
Ange Postecoglou even stated following the clash against Lion City Sailors last week that he likes the Argentine and added that the midfielder fits well with the way he wants to play (Football.London).
Lo Celso move looking difficult for Barca
Miguel has now taken to social media to claim that it is Xavi Hernandez who pushed for Lo Celso’s signing.
However, he added that it remains to be seen ‘how far’ Barcelona can go, adding that it would be ‘impossible to cover’ the operation for the Spurs star unless there are some exits from Camp Nou over the coming days.
Xavi aprieta por Lo Celso y Cancelo. Veremos hasta donde puede llegar el club. Sin salidas sera imposible abarcar estas operaciones. Lenglet Kessie y Dest han de marchar si o si

Spurs Web Opinion
If Lo Celso is willing to stay and fight for his place at Tottenham (as Postecoglou seemed to hint that he is), then there is no reason why he cannot be an important player during the upcoming season as the 27-year-old certainly has the attributes to thrive in the Australian’s system.
