Former Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs has said that he does not want Harry Kane to leave Tottenham as that will diminish the value of the North London derby and make it a one-sided contest.
With just days left until the new Premier League season gets underway, there still remains a question mark over Kane’s future at Tottenham, with Bayern Munich reportedly having a bid accepted for the player today (The Athletic).

While some outlets over the past 48 hours had indicated that the striker looked likely to stay put at Spurs (Daily Mail), the news of an accepted offer served as a last-minute blow for Tottenham fans.
However, other sources have more recently declared that Kane is still expected to choose a Spurs stay over a Bayern move, with a transfer coming so late in the day (Sky Sports News).
Gibbs thinks Spurs need Harry Kane to compete
It goes without saying that most Arsenal fans would want to see the back of Kane as it will weaken Spurs considerably but Gibbs insisted that he does not want to see the 30-year-old leave as the North London rivalry could become uncompetitive like in Merseyside.
The 33-year-old told ESPN FC: “As a fan of Harry and a fan of the rivalry (between Spurs and Arsenal) in general, I want to see Harry stay. I just feel they would be that bad if he goes.
“The gap would be huge. It would really be big. It’s already getting big. As fans, you want excitement, especially for the big rival games. You don’t want a Liverpool-Everton situation. You want to be close and keep the competitiveness.
“They are in a transition period, with the stadium and it kind of feels like with Spurs, when it rains, it pours and right now it’s pouring. You don’t want the imbalance to grow too much, so I would like to see him stay.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is almost as if Arsenal fans have completely forgotten the fact that they finished behind us for six seasons in a row before finally having one good season last time out.
The North London derby will remain competitive irrespective of whether Kane stays or not.
