Ange Postecoglou has said that his ultimate aim at Tottenham Hotspur is to build a team that wins every competition, not just the domestic cups.
In many people’s eyes, the Carabao Cup represented Spurs’ best chance of winning silverware this season and ending their trophy drought, which was why many supporters were disappointed when Postecoglou made nine changes against Fulham, with the Lilywhites crashing out on penalties.

The Australian has subsequently defended his selections, insisting that he is not desperate just to win a cup for the sake of it and that he is focused on building the foundations that would help the club consistently compete for major honours (talkSPORT).
Tottenham are going strong in the league and Postecoglou said following the win over Sheffield United that Spurs fans have every right to be carried away and dream big, remarking that it is up to the team to match those expectations (Spurs Play).

The 58-year-old has now spelt out that his ultimate ambition is to get the team to a place where it can win every competition.
Postecoglou told the Fan Forum held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (19/09/23):
“Every football club in the world has that aim (to win), it’s about how you get to that space. I’ve always felt that you’ll get to be that kind of team that’s consistently in a position to win things if you believe in something beyond just three points on the weekend.”
He added: “The best teams, what they do is dominate games of football on a consistent basis and that’s what I want to create. I want to create a team that we dominate every team in the competition and that will give us a chance of success in any competition. I’m not interested in just winning a cup just for the sake of winning a cup, that’s not why I’m here.”
“If we get to that space then we have an opportunity to win every competition, not just the cup competitions. This is not a cup-winning club. This is a club that should be contesting in all competitions. That’s why I’m here. That’s all I’m interested in.”

After the experience under Conte, who only gave quite self-serving answers to the media, it is so refreshing to see a manager not trying to play down expectations and having the confidence in his own ability to spell out that the ultimate goal is to compete with the likes of Man City.
