Gareth Bale was present for the manic scenes at the Tottenham versus Chelsea game on Monday night, and during his half-time discussion he claimed joining Spurs was the best decision he ever made.
Throughout two spells with the North London outfit, Gareth Bale cemented his status as a club legend with 71 goals and 58 assists in 236 appearances for Spurs (Transfermarkt).
His dynamic, game-changing displays led to a huge move to Real Madrid in 2013. The Welshman went on to win three La Liga titles and became a five-time Champions League winner during his time in Spain.
Bale returned to Spurs for the 2020/21 campaign, and ended up scoring 16 goals in total during his loan spell under Jose Mourinho (Transfermarkt).
Since retiring at the start of this year, Bale has been spending most of his time playing golf, it seems. But, he did recently tell Sky Sports how much he is enjoying watching Ange Postecoglou’s team this season.
Gareth Bale feels at home with Spurs
Bale picked quite the game to revisit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the game against Chelsea proving to be one of the most eventful Premier League encounters this season.
Reflecting on his time with the Lilywhites, Bale said while being interviewed by Paul Coyte during halftime at pitch side at the Spurs v Chelsea match (6/11/23 at 8:56 pm): “The best thing I ever did was move to Tottenham – I still remember it like it was yesterday.
“It’s great to be back in front of these amazing fans – it’s definitely like coming home.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It’s no secret that Bale didn’t really settle during his time in Spain, and you can tell how much he enjoyed his second stint with Spurs. He made a name for himself at White Hart Lane, and will always be remembered fondly by the Spurs fans.
