Football Insider have claimed that while Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in January, they first want to bring a replacement through the door.
Hojbjerg’s future continues to be the subject of much speculation as we get closer to the January transfer window, with several outlets talking up the chances of Juventus making a move for the midfielder.
The Telegraph reported last week that Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and his assistant Giovanni Manna were at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the clash against Chelsea to run the rule over the Dane.
This was also backed up The Daily Mail, who explained that the Lilywhites’ asking price of £30m could be a stumbling block to the transfer, adding that the Old Lady are also keeping an eye on other alternatives.
Spurs want replacement for Hojbjerg before sale
According to Football Insider’s latest update, Spurs will first have to bring another midfielder through the door before letting Hojbjerg leave in January.
It is explained that with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr set to be unavailable during AFCON, Ange Postecoglou’s men do not want to be left short of options in the middle of the park.
The publication reveals that the former Southampton man came close to an exit in the summer and adds that his future remains ‘up in the air’ ahead of January.

I believe that Ange would be happy to keep Hojbjerg around as a squad player until next summer if he is offered the option to do so.
He certainly would not want the Dane to leave without bringing another midfielder through the door, irrespective of whether Bentancur is able to return to the levels he showed pre-injury.
